February 17, 1943 – February 16, 2025

Our Unity Urban Ministerial School family celebrates the life of Rev. Dr. Anna Maria Benjamin Price who joined the ancestors on February 16, 2025.

Rev. Dr. Anna Price was ordained in 1977 by Rev. Dr. Johnnie Colemon, an ordained Unity minister and founder of the Universal Foundation for Better Living. That same year, Dr. Price began serving as Executive Pastor at the Universal Truth Center in Miami, Florida, and she was elected and served nine months as Mayor of South Miami, where she had previously served 15 months as City Commissioner.

 In July 1998, she completed an 18-month tenure as a Prison Chaplain with the Florida Department of Corrections. From 2010 to 2012, she served as Project Director of Project Homeward Bound, an initiative that provided mentoring and other services for inmates transitioning out of prison.

As a community activist, Dr. Price served as Chairperson of the Historical Museum of South Florida, Vice Chair of the Dade County Commission on the Status of Women, President of the Coral Gables Democratic Women’s Club, Board Member of the Florida Sports Foundation, and Recorder for the Blind and Dyslexic.

She was also the Academic Coach for the Florida International University Athletic Department. Rev. Dr. Anna was a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Dr. Price earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Central State University, a Master’s degree in Economics from Wright State University, and a Master’s degree in Liberal Studies and a Doctorate of Philosophy from the University of Miami.

Before becoming an ordained minister, she was an administrator, director, and provost with Upward Bound.

Dr. Price was a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the second oldest Black Greek public service organization in the United States.

Until her death, she was Provost of the Johnnie Colemon Theological Seminary.
