On January 16, 2023, Rev. JoAnn Watson will receive the “Let Freedom Ring” award during the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Celebration in Detroit. Rev. JoAnn is being honored for her many years of accomplishments, including a decade-long career as a member of the Detroit City Council, as pastor of West Side Unity Church, and her continued efforts to inspire people from all walks of life. Previous honorees have included Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Aretha Franklin, Congressman John Conyers, Jr., Jonathan Wolman, and others. The event is being held in Detroit’s Fox Theater at 4:00 p.m. CT.
