Unity Urban Ministerial School Certification Programs

The Unity Urban Ministerial School offers certification programs designed for individuals who want to deepen their spiritual understanding, develop practical ministry skills, or pursue specialized areas of study without enrolling in the full ministerial program.

How to Apply

To enroll in a certification program, follow these simple steps:

  1. Complete the Certification Application by applying for admission to the Unity Urban Ministerial School. Apply Here
  2. Pay the non-refundable $25 application fee.
  3. Receive your acceptance notification. Once your application has been approved, you will receive access to our online student portal, Orbund.
  4. Register for your certification courses. After logging into Orbund, you will be able to select and register for the courses required for your chosen certification.

Tuition

  • Application Fee: $25 (non-refundable)
  • Certification Tuition: $400 per semester

Tuition is charged on a per-semester basis for students actively enrolled in certification coursework.

Prerequisites

Some certification programs require students to complete prerequisite courses before enrolling in advanced classes. Specific requirements are listed on each certification program page. Students are encouraged to review these requirements before registering.

To obtain the Certificate, students must have completed S.E.E. (Spiritual Education and Enrichment) classes through UUMS or UWSI, or two prerequisite courses being offered by UUMS: 1) Unity Foundations and 2) one of the following: Unity Prayer, Jesus’ Teachings, Development of New Thought, or Bible Overview. The classes must be completed before the Certificate program concludes. The dates when these classes are offered can be found at uums.org under Academics, Academic Calendar.

Certificate Programs Being Offered:

Advanced Metaphysics with Rev. Carol Lunde  (4 Semesters)

The next step in our spiritual evolution will be like no other. Many have taken that step throughout the centuries and have endeavored to explain it, even though language is limited. Still, we must explain to ourselves as best we can the fabulous journey we are on through the physical world into the spiritual. Charles and Myrtle Fillmore saw a world beyond their physical experiences. They saved themselves from disastrous illnesses to create the world we know as Unity, which spread throughout the country nationally and internationally.  Even in Unity, some become afraid and want to step back into the temporal world, appeal to the majority, and abandon the deepest teachings. And fortunately, many of us are not afraid and continue into the spiritual dimension, or the fourth dimension, as Charles Fillmore called it. We each must make our own choice. This class teaches how to make that choice from personal consciousness. Prereq – Metaphysics 1 to 4

Music Ministry with Rev. Richard Mekdeci

This class provides tools and information for building, growing, and sustaining a strong and diverse church music program in today’s multi-dimensional environment of delivering your church services via the internet as well as to your live congregation.

Technology and Ministry in Ministry Certification with Rev. Richard A. Pacheco (4 semesters)

The UUMS Media & Technology Certification Program is a practical, hands-on course designed to help ministers, spiritual leaders, and ministries confidently use technology, media, and digital tools for modern ministry and outreach. Students learn skills in social media, livestreaming, content creation, branding, websites, communication platforms, AI tools, and digital ministry leadership through a semester-by-semester approach that combines spiritual purpose with real-world application.

Prison Ministry Certification Program with Rev. Kirti Cesaratto and Stephanie Bush-Baskette

The UUMS Prison Ministry Certification Program is a comprehensive, spiritually grounded, 30-week certificate program designed to prepare individuals for compassionate, ethical, and effective prison ministry. Rooted in Unity principles and open to people of all spiritual backgrounds, this program equips participants to serve incarcerated individuals, returning citizens, and their families with wisdom, presence, and hope. Designed for Unity ministers, Licensed Unity Teachers (LUTs), ministerial students, chaplains, prison ministry volunteers, and non-credentialed spiritual seekers, this program welcomes anyone who feels called to serve those impacted by incarceration. No previous prison ministry experience is required. Participants will explore the realities of incarceration, develop trauma-informed and spiritually centered ministry skills, learn effective communication and facilitation practices, and gain the tools to create or strengthen prison and reentry ministries in their own communities.
