Recipes from Our Mothers’ Kitchens:
Seven-Up Biscuits
4 cups Bisquick
1 cup sour cream
1 cup 7-Up
½ cup melted butter
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Mix Bisquick, sour cream and 7-Up. Dough will be very soft (don’t worry!). Knead and fold dough with baking mix until coated. Pat dough out and cut biscuits using round biscuit cutter, jar lid or glass. Melt butter in bottom of 9×13 casserole dish. Place biscuits on top of melted butter. Bake 12-15 minutes or until brown.
Country Apple Dumplings
2 large Granny Smith apples
1-1/2 cups white sugar
2 – 10 o z cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
1 cup butter
2 tsp ground cinnamon (more to your taste—I like lots of cinnamon)
12-oz can or bottle of Mountain Dew
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cut each apple into 8 wedges and set aside.
Separate crescent roll dough into triangles.
Roll each apple wedge in crescent dough starting at the smallest end. Pinch to seal the ends.
Place in 9×13 baking dish.
Melt butter in a small saucepan and stir in sugar and cinnamon. Pour over apple dumplings.
Pour Mountain Dew over the dumplings.
Bake 35-45 minutes until golden brown.
