Our congratulations go to Rev. Carolyne Jeane Rhodes, recipient of this year’s Rev. Dr. Ruth M. Mosley Outstanding Achievement in Urban Ministry Award. This award, initiated in 2004 by Rev. Ruth, is given to a UUMS graduate/alumni doing outstanding urban ministry.

Rev. Carolyne Jeane, a native of Detroit, Michigan, graduated from Unity Urban Ministerial School in 1995. She attended Unity School of Religious Studies and was ordained by the Association of Unity Churches in 1996. After ordination, Rev. Carolyne Jeane served as co-minister of a Unity alternative ministry, led the Shekinah Glory Gospel Music Ministry, and became co-minister at Unity of Joplin, Missouri.

Rev. Carolyne Jeane attended Detroit Public Schools, and Wayne County Community College. She is a graduate of Hallmark School of Business Machines and Virginia Farrell School of Cosmetology. For several years, Carolyne Jeane owned and operated a nail salon called “I Onlye Have Nails for You.”

She has been a member of West Side Unity Church in Detroit, Michigan, since 1991, where she sang in the choir, managed the bookstore, and currently serves as an adjunct minister. Carolyne Jeane also sang with the Eastside and John Eberhart Community Choirs.

For more than two decades, Rev. Carolyne Jeane has dedicated her time, talents, and treasures to the continued success of Unity Urban Ministerial School, serving as an instructor on the Detroit campus, staff, and personal assistant and event planner for the school’s founder, Rev. Dr. Ruth M. Mosley. Carolyne Jeane currently serves as administrative officer in the Detroit office.

Reverend Carolyne Jeane has four children, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
