A Message from Rev. Richard Pacheco, Vice-President

During a recent UUMSAA meeting, we focused on three key questions to determine how to further our mission:

  1.     Why does the UUMS Alumni Association exist?  We agreed that the purpose of UUMSAA is to support all Unity Urban Ministerial School alumni. One way we do this is by allowing time during monthly meetings for participants to share what is going on in their lives and ministries. We provide a safe space for prayer support.
  2.     What can we do for our alumni at each meeting? We actively solicit and share ideas on ways to strengthen UUMS. For example, beginning this month we will beta-test a class for Spiritual Education and Enrichment (S.E.E.) to be offered during meetings.
  3.     What can we do as the Alumni Association for UUMS? We consistently seek opportunities to support UUMSAA and give back to UUMS. Beginning this month we will be beta-testing a Spiritual Education and Enrichment (S.E.E.) during the meetings. Rev. Evin Wilkins and I will be working on ways to enhance alumni skills using technology. During the March meeting, I will facilitate a session titled, “My ministry is streaming on YouTube, Now What?”
  4. We are in the process of creating a UUMS alumni database to include skill sets, talents, and interests—such as speakers, musicians, writers, planners, etc. If you are a graduate you can help us by completing the form at this link: https://forms.gle/pxKTGQZ4ftJ5WRNQ7

Future projects to support UUMS include sponsoring new graduates by paying their first-year UUMSAA membership dues. This could be the start of an “each-one-reach-one” campaign to increase the involvement and support of fellow alumni and our School.

I encourage you to fill out the form and join us at our monthly meetings held on the 2nd Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. ET.

The next meeting is Monday, March 10. And, please invite other alumni to join us.

In Gratitude,

Rev. Richard Pacheco, Vice President
